Electronic trading on the London Metal Exchange has been stopped because of a technical issue.
Electronic trading on the exchange stopped at 09:58 BST. However, other types of trading have been unaffected and are continuing.
A LME spokeswoman told the BBC that she did not know when trading would start again.
"It was a controlled halt. We gave users 15 to 20 minutes' warning," she added.
